Search for Effects of Polarized Hidden Strangeness in Nucleons
(Project NIS)
Leader:
A. Litvinenko E. Strokovsky
Scientific Programme:
Obtaining new experimental data on total and differential cross
sections of
and
production in pp and np
interactions at thresholds.
Experimental and theoretical studies of vector meson production
mechanisms at threshold in nucleon-nucleon interactions at
intermediate energies.
Data on OZI-rule violation, its energy dependence and dependence
on isospin of the NN system in the initial state at
nucleon energies close
to the
and meson production thresholds.
A new large acceptance magnetic spectrometer for experiments at
intermediate energies with multitracking capability and particle
identification system (PID) based on time-of-flight measurements
will be created at the Nuclotron extracted beam.
Expected main results in 2002:
Test, upgrade of MWPC of the EXCHARM setup and
transportation to LHE, bld.205.
Test-bench and test-beam studies of the tracking system in bld.205
(LHE). Installation of the tracking system and its
comissioning.
Measurement and data analysis of the 3-dimension field map of the
analyzing magnet at SPHERE setup.
R&D of the trigger and particle-identification subsystems.
Test of the prototypes at the test-bench. Purchase of elements and
modules for front-end electronics and for detector power supplies for
trackers and the PID subsystem.
Detailed Monte-Carlo simulation of the experiment. Study of the
Nuclortron beam parameters and physical background at SHERE
beam-line. Preparation of the project for radiation protection shield
of the setup. Production of elements of the radiation protection.
R&D of the software for event reconstruction, on-line and off-line
analysis.
